About Nainativu
Nainativu is one of the smallest inhabited islands in the Gulf of Mannar and is only about 30 miles from main land (Jaffna) and 35 miles from India. Merchants have long come here and the surrounding islands to buy the conch shells that are harvested in the warm shallow waters in the Gulf.

Nainativu, with a latitude of 9.6 (9° 35' 60 N) and a longitude of 79.77 (79° 46' 0 E), is a hypsographic (island) located in Sri Lanka Location Placement Nainativu is situated 321 kilometers north west (335’) of the approximate center of Sri Lanka and 299 kilometers north (358’) of the capital, Colombo.
